DIGITAL COMIC NO MORE: SCOUNDRELS HAS A PUBLISHER!
While we first prepared to release our debut comic book series, SCOUNDRELS, digitally through GlobalComix, we're now partnering with Dreamscape Publishing to bring SCOUNDRELS to print!
This means you'll be able to get the book in your hands. Own it. Feel it. Flip the pages. Bag it. Board it. Box it. The things we as comic readers love to do.
Releasing the comic book digitally was never the end goal for SCOUNDRELS, and truthfully, there's a deep sense of relief with finally having a publisher to realize this story as intended.
With this new partnership, the timeline of SCOUNDRELS has naturally shifted.
First, what feels to be the biggest update to the series, is that it will now be FULLY COLORED. With the digital release, we didn't intend on coloring to save time and money... unless the book went to print. Since we were able to reach that goal, we get to paint the series with all that "vibrant violence" I've always loved to describe SCOUNDRELS with.
In addition to adding color, we get to do variant covers for our issues! As a collector myself, I know what collectors love and hate when it comes to how companies go about variants. So, with SCOUNDRELS, we as a studio are making a point to not flood shelves with near exploitative amounts of variants, while very cool. For SCOUNDRELS, our goal is for each release to have a max of 5-6 covers per issue. One of the things that excites us most about having variant covers is that they allow for another facet of storytelling. They convey the story of SCOUNDRELS through a more abstract, experimental, and singular lens.
What makes our partnership with Dreamscape Publishing especially meaningful is that I myself actually have a personal history with the company. See, when I was in college, I got a summer job working at my local comic store, JAF Comics. JAF Comics is the biggest comic, toys, and card retailer in Lehigh Valley where I call home. As someone who shopped there frequently and truly loved every second I was there, the job was the most perfect position I've ever gotten to work. A lot of my day-to-day operations were organizing comics we were taking in, but also helping to list new inventory online across JAF's digital storefronts. Through this, I was constantly exposed to a number of comics spanning literal decades, not just from Marvel and DC, but plenty of other series and publishers as well.
You may be wondering: why am I telling you this story? Well, it's because Dreamscape Publishing was a local publisher residing in the same building as JAF's store and was acquired by them when they were going out of business. Now saved, they started publishing original titles from creators within the area. So years later in 2026, when I found myself gearing up to publish SCOUNDRELS as comic AND saw that JAF had began carving a section of the comic space with their own books through Dreamscape—I mean come on. How could I not take the opportunity?
While a digital release was the bare minimum and simply a way for us to get the story out—which has always been our priority—having it confined to only existing on an app your phone was incredibly unattractive to us. Personally, the biggest appeal with comics and books in general is that they force you to separate yourself from your devices to fully engage with the medium. Digital reading is fine, however, it's a lot easier to swap back to Instagram and resume your doomscroll compared to removing the phone from the equation entirely.
Our new release date for SCOUNDRELS Issue 1 is September 16th, 2026. It'll be on shelves for that week's new comic book day and is just surreal for our first book. In the coming months, as its being prepared to go out with Dreamscape catalogs, stores will be able to order copies to put on shelves through June and July. Then, in August, we'll be opening up the SCOUNDRELS Kickstarter for you all to secure your copies, along with offerings of all other merchandise and collectibles to celebrate the release of Issue 1. This will all lead up to that mid-September release!
From there, the book will be released quarterly with each issue running anywhere from 22-32 pages. While that may sound less than ideal, we're just glad to have that cushion time to really polish each issue, refine our artist/writer workflows, and make each issue as high quality of story as it can be for our first serialization.
Our goal with SCOUNDRELS is to produce a consistently compounding epic with each issue continuing a streak of grandiose storytelling. Now with Dreamscape allowing us to bring the series to print, we're one step closer to achieving that goal. As a new studio, we're indebted to have their support in launching our debut series, so please look forward to SCOUNDRELS!
